Fine5 Dance Theatre to participate in Manifesti festival in Turku

Fine5 Dance Theatre's production "There is a chair waiting for to be sat on" will be performed on September 22nd, 2023 at 19:00 at the Manifesti Festival in the Manilla Factory Quarter in Turku, Finland.

"There is a chair waiting for to be sat on" is a collaboration between choreographers and performers Tiina Olleski and Renee Nõmmik, composer Giovanni Albini (Italy) and video artist Argo Valdmaa about the disappearance of the human body and the resulting conflict between internal and external temporal rhythms, the deformation of bodily perception, the power and powerlessness of movement, but also about human desires that have not been fulfilled. Where does time flow and what does it do to our bodies?

The idea, the choreography and the texts of the production were created by Tiina Ollesk and Renee Nõmmik, the leaders of Fine5. The production team includes dancers Tiina Ollesk, Ekaterina Soorsk, Anita Kurõljova, Helen Reitsnik and Simo Kruusement, composer Giovanni Albini (Italy), laser projection designers Argo Valdmaa and Renee Nõmmik, costume designer Kirill Safonov and lighting designer Ants Kurist. The premiere of the production took place on April 13th, 2023 on the RING stage in the Russian Theatre of Estonia.

The Manifesti Festival will take place for the 29th time in the Manilla factory quarter in Turku. The 2023 programme, which includes an art exhibition and 12 dance, theatre and circus performances, features both renowned Finnish dance artists and international guest performances. The theme of this year's festival programme is openness.

In addition to the Manifesti Festival, the production "There is a chair waiting for to be sat on" can be seen this autumn in Estonia and Norway at the international contemporary dance festival DanceFestival Barents.
