Estonian ballet Golden Temple represents Europe at festival in Singapore

The creative union *birdname has been invited to represent Estonia and Europe at the 2023 Asia-Europe Cultural Festival in Singapore with the ballet Golden Temple A total of 5 works have been selected for the festival as good examples of European-Asian cooperation.

The Asia-Europe Cultural Festival celebrates the artistic diversity of Asia and Europe and promotes dialogue and cultural exchange between artists from both regions.

The festival is organized from 2018 by the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF).

ASEM is a platform set up in 1996 to promote dialogue and cooperation between Europe and Asia.

Golden Temple is inspired by a novel The Temple of the Golden Pavilion by Yukio Mishima. Based on the incident of the burning down of the Kinkaku-ji Tempel in Kyoto, the novel follows the bizarre relationship between a young monk and the Golden Temple which starts to unfold already in the main character's childhood when he hears stories from his father about the most beautiful thing in the world.

The production team includes artists from Estonia, Japan and South Korea; the performance features dancers Anita Kurõljova (Estonia) and Kyoshiro Oshima (Japan), singer Anna Pärnoja (Estonia), and South Korean-American cellist Robert Choi, who replaces Theodor Sing as a guest performer. The production's video-visuals are reated by Taavi Miisu Varm, the lighting by Margus Vaigur and the design by architect Ülar Mark. The creative collective *birdname consists of producer Tiiu Tamm, director Teet Kask and composers Timo Steiner and Sander Mölder.
