The Master and Margarita by Tiit Ojasoo and Ene-Liis Semper to premiere in Dailes Theatre

On March 22nd, 2024 the newest production by the Estonian theatre directors Tiit Ojasoo and Ene-Liis Semper is coming to a premiere in Dailes Theatre in Riga, Latvia. The performance The Master and Margarita is based on the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov.

"This work embodies the unapologetic creative joy of a genius and his resentment toward a world where the only defence against bureaucrats and opportunists is a refined culture of thought. It has always been a universal weapon against the erosion of genuine human relationships – and such remains the case, although today mere words no longer suffice," says the introduction about Ojasoo's and Semper's performance.

In addition to the directors, the production team also includes Jüri Nael (body and movement work), Jakob Juhkam (sound design), Jussi Ruskanen (light designer), Diāna Kaijaka (assistant director), Aina Matīsa (acting and stage speech consultant), Andris Fridrihsons, Edmunds Cīrulis and Dāvis Dreiska (video solutions) as well as the actors Mārtiņš Meiers, Ieva Segliņa, Arturs Krūzkops, Artūrs Skrastiņš, Madara Viļčuka, Niklāvs Kurpnieks, Imants Strads, Kārlis Arnolds Avots, Gints Grāvelis, Dainis Gaidelis, Kaspars Dumburs, Meinards Liepiņš, Katrīna Griga, Milēna Miškēviča, Aldis Siliņš, Toms Veličko and Ilze Ķuzule-Skrastiņa.

The performances are in Latvian with English surtitles.
