Kanuti Gildi SAAL announces an open call for residency for artists residing in the Nordic-Baltic region

Kanuti Gildi SAAL announces an open call for two residency periods for artists residing in the Nordic-Baltic region. The first residency period lasts for a month from May 20th to June 20th, 2025 in Püha Vaimu SAAL studio, the second for two months from September 22nd to November 20th, 2025 in cellar hall and Püha Vaimu SAAL studio.

The residency is aimed for artists and creatives operating in the performing arts field, with an open mind towards interdisciplinary practices. The call is open for a single artist or artistic duos.

Applying artists must be a resident in one of the Nordic or Baltic countries (Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Åland, Latvia, Lithuania). Selected artist need to have a permanent address in one of these countries. However, it is not necessary for the selected artists to have Nordic or Baltic nationality. The call is not open to artists residing in Estonia.

At least one of the upcoming residency opportunities in Kanuti Gildi SAAL is reserved for an artist with a refugee background. This includes artists from Ukraine, Palestine and other crisis territories. Additionally, second generation refugee background artists are also considered.

Artists are selected by the artistic board of Kanuti Gildi SAAL, consisting of all full time team members at the time of selection.

Residency offers working space with basic technical equipment and support, travel and accommodation, residency fee, per diems, small production budget.

Results will be announced the latest by March 31st. A call for residency slots in 2026 will be announced later this year.
