SCREAM BOX by Liisa Saaremäel to be performed at Fast Forward Festival in Germany

On November 15th and 16th , 2024, Liisa Saaremäel’s musical performance SCREAM BOX will be showcased at the Fast Forward Festival in Dresden.

The festival, now in its eighth year, brings together outstanding directors from across Europe, offering many young artists their first opportunity to present their work to an international audience and engage in dialogue with peers from the global stage. At the end of the four-day program, the festival jury will select a laureate who will be invited to create a new production for the Staatsschauspielhaus theater in Dresden.

The concert-performance SCREAM BOX centers on the throat and various types of screams – from birth and death cries to fan screams. Liisa Saaremäel will perform on stage alongside musician Florian Wahl. SCREAM BOX premiered in May 2023 at Kanuti Gildi SAAL and was recognized in the performance art category at the 2024 Estonian theatre awards. The performance at the Fast Forward Festival is supported by the Estonian Ministry of Culture.

Liisa Saaremäel (1992) is a freelance performance artist and actress. Her artistic work and research focus on societal coexistence from the perspective of an individual, in which compressed tiny space is an essential poetic component. Recently she obtainined a MA degree from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater in contemporary performing arts (CPPM). Her diploma work and site-specific performance “Tiny Home Production presents: SUUREM-KUI-ELU (2021)” won an Estonian theatre award in the performance art category.
