Ash, horizon, riding a house by Netti Nüganen to premiere in Vienna

28.04.2025 13:40

Kollaažil on kolm pilti: ülemine kujutab kätt, mis hoiab kondikujulist jäätükki, keskmine Netti Nüganeni silmi, mille ees on jäätunud prillid, ning alumine abstraktset maali.

On May 2nd, 2025, Netti Nüganen's new production Ash, horizon, riding a house will premiere at Tanzquartier Wien in Vienna, Austria.

The starting point of the production is the conceptualisation of locality in a global world dominated by tourism and migration. When travelling, whether by choice or not, home is not something to belong to, but something to adapt to. How to express local belonging from a global perspective: in a world where cultural identity has become part of the influence of a dominant culture?

Nüganen will be joined on stage by sound designer Michaela Kisling and stenographer Pire Sova. In the course of the performances, Nüganen, Kisling and Sova will open their own ice-manufacturing office, where they will make the set design and some of the costumes, which will melt and disappear at the end of the performance, in front of the audience. The soundscape is also arranged and mixed in real time during the performances.

The production is the result of an international collaboration and is a co-production between Netti Nüganen, Kanuti Gildi SAAL and Tanzquartier Wien. Ash, horizon, riding a house will premiere in Estonia in August as part of the SAAL Biennaal 2025 performing arts festival.
