BALTOSCANDAL 2008
Gisèle Vienne (France)
"I Apologize"

Theatre:
lavastus-pic
I Apologize presents several versions of the same phenomenon, utilizing the idea of an accident reconstruction which can produce several versions of an event, in order to come as close as possible to the event's reality. The reconstruction is led by a young man, who is directing a woman and a man, with several different identities, and twenty or so young girls, all of whom are around twelve years old and are represented by dolls on the stage. The movements and the use of space, along with the development of the hypotheses of representations, slowly lead to confusion as to what is the representation and what is its relationship with reality. The American writer Dennis Cooper has written monologues for the work and reads them himself in the performance. The texts are united with Peter Rehberg's music and together they conjure up images associated with sexual desire, death and criminality.
