The Tidings Brought to Mary, one of the most frequently produced plays in the last century French theatre, is a mystery in four acts and a prologue in "conditional Middle Ages".
"This is certainly one of my masterpieces ..., which contains several aspects of nearly all of my creative powers," says Paul Claudel of this play. Varying the topics and characters of the play, Claudel edited and rewritten it several times. The production of Theatrum relies on the last version, translated by Tõnu Õnnepalu.
The Tidings Brought to Mary is directed by Lembit Peterson and was premiered in late October in the church of St Catherine.
Cast: Maria Peterson, Rain Simmul (Tallinn City Theatre), Laura Peterson (Vanemuine), Lembit Peterson, Mare Peterson, Andri Luup and others.
