What unites us in a world divided into leaders and subordinates, upper and lower classes, poor and rich, technocrats and humanitarians, politicians and ordinary people, and rival football, dance, or any other clubs? What do we mean by "family" in today’s world, what emotional content does it carry, and what does it mean in a broader sense? For example imagine the situation when a group of dancers begin a creative work process, during which each member gradually adopts a specific role, as is customary in a family. Although everything is fine on the outside, tensions arise between people who think and understand differently about the matter, and then everyone has to make an effort to overcome the divisions between the parts and move forward.
The play ""The" Family" peels away the makeup of the "family", the fake smiles, and reveals the secrets of the different strata. Assuming that through cooperation and mutual support there is hope to find a unifying goal and a path towards a positive future. Both in the family and in society at large.
For Fine5 Dance Theatre, this is the second collaboration with Anita Kurõljova and Richard Beljohin, who presented the production "Yes or Yesn't" 3 years ago. Now, the new production also includes several dancers with whom Fine5 has not collaborated before.
