The Crowd explores how we navigate our positions in crowds. You’ll hear texts from different people about the loneliness and the joy they experience while being part of different groups of people. While listening, together the audience becomes a crowd.
This performance gives the audience possibilities they rarely get to experience in the theatre. The audience gets headphones they will wear throughout the performance and there will not be any seating. Maybe "The Crowd" can be compared to the theatre's version of silent disco?
How do we exist within a crowd? Do we want to stand out or blend in? Do we push toward the center or stay on the edges? What do we experience when we are just a small part of a large group? How does being in a crowd change our behavior?
Norwegian performers' Eva Rosemarijn and Lise Andrea’s production "The Crowd" is an audiovisual theatre experience that invites the audience to explore themselves among others and to feel a range of emotions — joy or loneliness, as well as uncertainty, curiosity, trust, or belonging.
The audience is given headphones to wear throughout the performance, and there are no assigned seats.
The performances are in English and involve movement within the space.
