Peter Shaffer's Lettice and Lovage is an intelligent comedy about two women. One has lost the ability to dream, whereas the other dreams perhaps even too much. They are nevertheless united by their love of history, art and the beautiful buildings of England. This play about the loftiness, imagination and theatricality of history was first staged at the Estonian Drama Theatre in 1995. The imaginative Lettice was played by Maria Klenskaja, and the dull woman from the Preservation Trust by Kersti Kreismann. This time we see the actresses in reversed roles.
