"Closer to the Wild Heart"

Choreographer and dancer Maria Nurmela
Light designer Kalle Ropponen
Sound designer Jaakko Vastapuu

Maria Nurmela's (Finland) "Closer to the Wild Heart" creates a portrait of a woman between reality and fiction. The work examines the themes of invisibility and self-recreation. The work deserves continued international recognition for its profound exploration of identity, freedom, and human emotion, presented through an innovative blend of choreography, design, and sound.

The work has been performed in Finland and internationally since 2016, demonstrating its universal appeal and the lasting relevance of its themes. Kalle Ropponen's ecological set design complements the choreography and promotes sustainability in the arts, highlighting the importance of reducing the environmental impact of creative practices. Jaakko Vastapuu's brilliant sound design deepens the emotional resonance of the performance, creating an immersive experience that transcends cultural boundaries.

By combining ecological consciousness with artistic excellence, the work inspires global audiences to reflect on humanity's connection to nature. It underscores the vital role of art in fostering a sustainable future.

Breathing Art Company was founded in 2005,establishing itself in these years at national and international level in the promotion of dance. Inserted in the Apulia Region's Showbook, the company presented its works in Germany, Spain, Hungary, Albania, Puerto Rico, USA (Miami, New York, Charlotte, Newport), creating an international network that passionately supports the Award International Dance of San Nicola, flagship of the company's activity.
