Reeli Reinaus is best known for her children’s and young adult fiction. She earned a degree in practical theology from the Tartu Academy of Theology and studied Estonian and Finno‑Ugric philology at the University of Tartu. She completed a Master’s in Documentary Film at the Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School (BFM) of Tallinn University in 2018. Although she has studied theology, folklore, and documentary filmmaking, Reinaus primarily identifies as a folklorist. She is fascinated
by how folklore thrives in modern forms – from online forums and reality TV to contemporary belief systems. Observing how folklore emerges, evolves, and fades inspires her work. Reinaus has published over twenty books. Her writing draws on diverse sources: manor house legends, urban myths about cannibalistic sausage factories, Scandinavian sagas, and new-age spiritual practices.
