Mari-Liis Lill

Mari-Liis Lill is a bold and articulate director, dramaturg, and actress. She graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2006 and worked as an actor at the Estonian Drama Theatre from 2006 to 2015. She also works as a senior lecturer in stage speech at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
In collaboration with dramaturg Paavo Piik, they have created documentary productions that deal with social issues, such as depression, loneliness and domestic violence, with honesty and light humour, yet also with profound depth.

2023 Ants Lauter Award for productions staged at Estonian Drama Theatre, Tallinn City Theatre, Russian Theatre, Endla Theatre and Estonian Youth Theatre
2022 Estonian Theatre Special Award for the productions When You Come, Bring Me Flowers (Kui sa tuled, too mul lilli) and In The Other Room (Teises toas) with Liis Aedmaa, Laura Kalle and Priit Põldma
2021 Live and Shine Grant from the Cultural Endowment of Estonia
2017 Estonian State Cultural Award jointly awarded with Paavo Piik for At Second Glance (Teisest silmapilgust)
