Jaan Tätte is an actor, director and singer known for his delightfully clever use of language. He graduated with an acting degree from the Drama School of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1990. He worked at Tallinn City Theatre from 1990 to 2003 as an actor and later as a playwright. Tätte also writes songs and occasionally performs as a singer. He has said that he began writing plays because he as an actor, lacked challenging and exciting material to work with. In plays Tätte incorporates his acting experience by always considering the actors’ needs and offering opportunities for playful approaches to performing his texts. Sincerity and generally human themes make Tätte’s texts resonate across cultural boundaries.
