Andres Noormets is a director, dramaturg, actor, and educator whose work is deeply shaped by his love for music and language. Trained as an actor, he has worked across Estonia’s leading theatres, often blurring the lines between directing, writing, and performing. Noormets writes both for stage and radio, and his poetic, genre-defying radio plays – where the inner monologue often replaces dialogue – have gained national and international recognition. Noormets’ work balances introspection and playfulness, always seeking to stretch the form, whether he’s staging new Estonian texts, reworking classics or exploring the sonic landscapes of radio drama. He is also a mentor to younger artists and a vocal advocate for contemporary Estonian playwriting.
