Aare Pilv

Aare Pilv is a poet, literary scholar, translator, and critic. He graduated from Johann Köler Viljandi Secondary School No. 4 and went on to study Estonian literature, theatre studies, and semiotics at the University of Tartu. Pilv currently works as a researcher at the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on auto-metatextuality, Estonian poetry, and the works of Madis Kõiv (1929–2014), an Estonian physicist, philosopher, and writer known for his intellectually rich plays and prose. Pilv is an active member of the Estonian Writers’ Union, the poetry group Erakkond (The Group of Hermits), and the student society Veljesto.
