Drakadeemia started its activities in 2008, and is the first and longest-running creative writing school in Estonia. Courses are meant for those, who have literary ambitions and want to become better at writing prose, plays, scripts and criticism. There are also courses for learning to write effective stories for personal or work-related communication.

At Drakadeemia, writing is not understood as simply putting down words, but first and foremost, it is about flexible thinking. The courses cover a story’s structure, composition, content and its levels, lucidity, tension, words and their meaning. Instructors proceed from the principle that awareness of the primary text creation tools and the skills to use them allow the author to reach his or her goal. The instructors can support the author with analysis skills, theoretical references, practical exercises and inspiring discussions based on the author’s needs.

The longest-running Drakadeemia course instructors are Siret Campbell and Mihkel Seeder. In the most recent season, courses were instructed by Jan Kaus, Henri Hütt, Kiwa, Leana Jalukse, Maarin Ektermann, Liis Sein, Helen Pärk and others.

Courses are organised as contact and online classes. Drakadeemia also has video courses, which participants can access at a time and place suitable for them.

More detailed information about the courses is available at the address kool.drakadeemia.ee.
